Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a Home Watch Service?

“A Home Watch service is designed to give you peace of mind while you are away from your home. The official definition of Home Watch is “A visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues.” So, your home is being inspected by professionals looking for potential problems. Most companies will design a checklist based on your individual needs and concerns. If a situation does arise, you will be notified so the problem can be dealt with in an efficient and cost-effective manner.” We think this summary, from the National Home Watch Association, is a good one.

What will Hawk Eye Home Watch do when they go by my home?

A representative will physically go by your Lake Martin home. That rep will visually check inside and outside to make sure nothing is askew. If there is a problem, you will be the first to know.

What a Home Watch Visit Typically Includes:

  • A walkthrough of the interior and exterior

  • Visual checks for signs of water leaks, mold, storm damage, or pest activity

  • Confirmation that HVAC systems, appliances, and plumbing are functioning as expected

  • Lookout for signs of forced entry or unauthorized access

  • Check that doors, windows, and key systems are secure

  • Mail/package collection or other homeowner-requested tasks

How will I know when you have checked my home?

You will receive a notification report after we have gone by, even if everything is ok. If you would like us to look at something specifically, please let us know before we go and we are happy to take a look.

Is this the same thing as a home inspection?

No. A Certified Home Inspection (that is often done in the home sales process) is a lot more detailed. If an inspection is what you need, please contact Kenneth’s Company at this link: Lake Martin Inspections.

Will Hawk Eye need to get inside my Lake Martin home or condo in order to check it?

Yes, we will need key or code access to your home, as well as any relevant alarm codes. We will get all of this ahead of time, and will keep it confidentially, of course. All of that information will be taken when you sign up with us.

How do I pay y’all?

We will set up a recurring payment, per month, that will be charged to your credit card, debit card, or other.

Do you require a contract or require a minimum number of months?

Nope and nope.

What if I decide to cancel?

We think you will love our Home Watch service. But if you decide it’s not a good fit for your needs, just cancel. You don’t owe us for the future. No contracts.

Who are these people that will be traipsing through my house?

We take your trust very seriously. As local business owners for the last two decades here at Lake Martin, we know that our reputation is why people do business with us. We are members of the National Home Watch Association, and adhere to those standards of ethics and its mission. Above and beyond that, we at Hawk Eye seek to do the right thing, every time, without question. No dollar amount is worth having someone doubt our motives, either personally or professionally.

We are accredited through the NHWA. Accreditation is a status earned by businesses that meet NHWA’s strict requirements. The process includes:

A criminal background check on all company principals

Consumer affairs and Better Business Bureau checks/inquiries

Verification of all required business licenses in the state/province, county, and municipality where business will be conducted (must be acquired and maintained wherever possible)

Proof of proper insurance and bonding, which must be maintained continuously

Adherence to best practices and the NHWA Code of Ethics
